Payment and Refund Policy
Last updated: 23 September 2026
Scope of the Policy and Services Covered
This Payment and Refund Policy applies to all transactions involving the purchase of courses, training programmes, digital resources and related professional development services offered through commentlyra. These services centre on professional video operation, live signal management, content distribution, camera work and the creation of reliable high-quality feeds for news programmes and television broadcasting. The policy governs both one-time course purchases and subscription-based access to ongoing training modules. It does not apply to third-party products or services that may be referenced on the website but are fulfilled by external providers.
Prices, Currencies, Taxes and Additional Charges
All prices are displayed in British pounds sterling. Value added tax at the prevailing UK rate is included in the advertised price where applicable. Additional charges may arise for optional extras such as extended course materials, live workshop attendance or certification examinations. Any such extras are clearly itemised before payment is authorised. Currency conversion fees applied by your card issuer are outside the control of commentlyra and remain your responsibility.
Accepted Payment Methods, Authorisation and Security
Payments are accepted via major credit and debit cards, bank transfers and approved digital wallets. All transactions are processed through secure payment gateways that comply with UK data protection standards. Payment authorisation occurs immediately upon submission of order details. commentlyra does not store card details; these are handled exclusively by the payment processor. In the event of a payment decline, you will receive an on-screen notification and an opportunity to retry with alternative details.
Order Confirmation and Contract Formation
Upon successful payment you will receive an email confirmation containing order details, access instructions and a summary of the purchased course or service. A binding contract is formed at the moment the confirmation email is sent. Access to digital content is granted automatically once the payment has cleared. You are advised to retain the confirmation email for your records.
Cancellation Rights and Applicable Periods
Under UK consumer law you have the right to cancel most distance contracts within 14 days of the contract formation without giving a reason. For digital content and online courses, this right is lost once you begin downloading or streaming the material, provided you have expressly consented to immediate access and acknowledged that the right will be lost. Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time; however, access continues until the end of the paid period and no pro-rata refund is issued for the remaining term unless otherwise stated.
Refund Eligibility, Exclusions and Non-Refundable Items
Refunds are available only where the service has not been accessed or where a technical fault on the part of commentlyra prevents delivery. Once course materials have been downloaded or streamed, the purchase is considered fully delivered and non-refundable. Promotional offers, bundle discounts and gift vouchers are excluded from refund claims. Services already commenced, including live workshops or mentoring sessions, are non-refundable except in cases of cancellation by commentlyra.
Procedure to Request a Refund
To request a refund, contact [email protected] or telephone 020 7782 3100 within the applicable cancellation period. Provide your order number, full name, contact details and a brief explanation of the reason for the request. Requests submitted without complete information may be delayed. You will receive an acknowledgement within two working days.
Inspection, Decision and Notification
Each refund request is reviewed by the customer services team within five working days. You will be notified of the outcome by email. Approved refunds are processed without further action on your part. Rejected requests will include a clear explanation and information on any available alternatives such as course transfer or credit.
Refund Method, Processing Time and Receipt of Funds
Refunds are issued to the original payment method. Processing typically takes between five and ten working days, although bank transfer refunds may require additional verification. Credit card refunds appear on your statement within one to two billing cycles depending on your card issuer. commentlyra cannot expedite refunds once they have been submitted to the payment processor.
Special Rules for Digital Content, Subscriptions and Promotional Offers
Digital courses and recorded training modules are treated as digital content. Access is granted immediately upon purchase and the 14-day cooling-off period ends upon first access. Subscription plans renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. Promotional pricing is valid only for the initial term; subsequent renewals revert to the standard rate. No refunds are provided for partially used subscription periods.
Failed Payments, Duplicate Charges, Chargebacks and Suspected Fraud
In the event of a failed payment you will be notified and given the opportunity to complete the transaction. Duplicate charges detected by our system are automatically investigated and credited within seven days. Chargeback requests are treated as disputes and may result in temporary suspension of access pending resolution. Suspected fraudulent activity leads to immediate account review and, where necessary, referral to law enforcement authorities.
Mandatory Consumer Rights
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 or UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. These rights cannot be excluded or limited by contract. If any provision of this policy is found to conflict with mandatory law, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
